Our Story

A woman holds a photo of her mother who had dementia.

The beginning

Nearly two decades ago, a few local citizens initiated a movement to create awareness of caregiver needs.

The need

Through a Pulaski County needs assessment we found:

  • There is no adult day care service or fall prevention center in the county.
  • Among the county’s population of 34,872, 33.6% are age 55 years and older (US Census Bureau, 2010).
  • Most caregivers are family members who are also employed outside the home.

Approximately 14 adults hold shovels that are placed atop grass-covered, unbroken ground.

In 2008 the group formed a board of directors, incorporated, gained 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, and began efforts to provide an adult day service and fall prevention center for adults 18 years and older.

The search for a suitable building in the county and fundraising efforts took many years.  The group persevered and on October 13, 2015 broke ground for a new building on the site of the former Dublin Primary School. The building was dedicated on September 27, 2016 and we opened our doors to participants in November 2016!
